Try some questions from the course

Question 1 of 3

A café with 8 employees turns down an applicant because of their race. Title VII doesn't cover employers this small. Which federal law can still apply?

Section 1981 covers race and ethnicity and applies to employers of any size. Title VII starts at 15 employees, and IRCA covers citizenship status, national origin and I-9 practices, not race.

Lesson 2, Who's protected, teaches this. See the outline

Question 2 of 3

Under Groff v. DeJoy (2023), when can an employer refuse a religious accommodation for undue hardship?

Groff set the bar at substantial increased costs in relation to the business. Inconvenience and coworker grumbling don't meet it.

Lesson 5, Religion at work, teaches this. See the outline

Question 3 of 3

A coworker reported a slur last month. Since then, her manager has cut her hours for no stated reason. What could this be?

Punishing someone for reporting discrimination is retaliation, and it's illegal. She can raise it through the internal channel or an outside agency.

Lesson 6, Harassment and speaking up, teaches this. See the outline
